International Naginata Federation Membership

Whilst certain circumstances and conditions exist, the British Naginata Association, hoped to apply for ENF (ie. European Naginata Federation) membership status in 2007, unfortunately this did not happen. We cannot say at this stage, if we can afford to join the INF (International Naginata Federation, in Japan) as well, so joining ENF will be our first priority, and INF, our second. NEWS: GB has since been made provisional member of ENF (normal probation year to be served) FULL Membership will happen now in autumn 2009.

We look forward to in full membership status being granted by the INF by autumn 2010.

Our energies are required tackle uniquely British issues, so the international Naginata community support will be vital whilst we raise our Naginata standard and strengths, and importantly get Naginata recognised by UK Sports bodies, if we can, as that could potentially “unlock” vital funding and thus lead to other issues being addressed more easily.

Circumstances however, may change which may hasten (or delay) membership to INF. The BNA will remain fluid to such “circumstances” changing their provisional entry and subsequent membership into the INF.

BNA hopes to join ENF and INF at the best possible timings and opportunities, for all parties concerned.

The 2007 year was a world championship year, British individuals represented GREAT BRITAIN in the Goodwill tournament. For all, it was their first taikai (competition) in Naginata. See our ALBUM of our participation at the INF events.
