We hosted a London based extended weekend practice, for British people (and foreigners living here, by invitation) with a great Japanese 5 dan kyoshi, for especially for those who attended the World Championship in Belgium, 1st September 2007. It was also a great opportunity to those totally new to Naginata, as it gave them a flavour (intense & rushed !) of everything involved in Atarashii Naginata.

PROPOSAL: AUTUMN 2010 (PROPOSED SEPT 2010) WITH 5 DAN KYOSHI SENSEI - WEEKEND SEMINAR & KYU GRADING IN LONDON. Please register your interest !!!
Primarily to date, individuals are routinely invited to “local” seminars in Holland and Germany, often held over an entire weekend. Individuals must use their own enthusiasm and tenacity to attend, as Rachel, the London sensei, has not to date, as it means shutting the London Club, and she acts in the best interests of the majority, and thus keeping the club open when possible. Added to this, Rachel has been lucky enough to visit Japan, rather a lot during these past few years (work related) so has used every opportunity to attend Naginata practices/seminars in Japan.
Individuals are however encouraged to go seminars in Europe, if they have the financial means and time, as our European neighbours have far more experienced Naginata graded individuals. Individuals visiting France and Belgium, must appreciate seminars are all in French (!) The London Naginata club is happy to pass on any seminar/taikai details to those based in Great Britain.
If there is weighing up of precious time and cost £$, the BNA places priority on all individuals living here, making provision/plans to attend the annual autumn INF/ENF seminar.
Details to be handed out in the dojo. GB is still excluded, ENF foreigners located here, are included. Non-ENF, like GB can only take part in a Goodwill taikai, mixed female & male, no team event.
KEY DIARY DATES !!
Every 4 years, is a World Championship year, and 2007 was a great year as Belgium (Bruxelles) hosted the 4th World Naginata Championships (WNC) in September, 2007. Next World Championships will be JAPAN inJuly 2011.
All British people, regardless of standard (beginner through to high kyu grade) are encouraged to attend the international seminars, even if for many it is their first major competitive Naginata match !! so fighting spirit is more order of the day, rather than medals… WNC was our first trip as Team GB.

Friday 5th - Sunday 7th NOVEMBER 2010 - GERMANY ENF SEMINAR & EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS, kyu & dan gradings (BRITAIN CAN NOW ENTER INDIVIDUALS AND 3 PERSON TEAM), City to be confirmed.
Early JULY 2011 = the big one !!! the 5th World Naginata Championships, Goodwill and Seminar in JAPAN !!! GREAT BRITAIN CAN NOW COMPETE IN THE FULL CHAMPIONSHIPS. Almost everyone has said, this will be their trip of a lifetime to the home of Budo and Naginata. We will also give advice nearer the time, for those to take a vacation across other parts of Japan either preceding or following the Naginata events. IT IS PROPOSED TO BE IN KANSAI - POSSIBLY KYOTO OR OSAKA. Start saving now into a secret untouchable bank account.
